The Borstei is located in the Moosach district of Munich and is a listed housing estate built in the 1920s by Bernhard Borst, after whom the estate is named.
The Borstei comprises 77 multi-family houses arranged in a row, forming seven beautiful courtyards. These courtyards are attractively landscaped and feature over 50 statues and nine fountains. There is also a pond within the Borstei.
The apartment windows are all painted white. Some facades are covered with grapevines, which, however, do not bear any grapes.
In addition to houses and apartments, the Borstei also includes commercial spaces, shops, two kindergartens and a café.
Since Landshuter Allee, and thus the Mittlerer Ring (Middle Ring Road), is located directly east of the Borstei, the windows facing this direction are custom-made to provide better noise protection.
